2016 has been a big year for the Georgia CARE Project and we wanted to thank you for making it all possible with your donations and support.

Look at all we accomplished this year in Georgia!

  • Advocating with lawmakers during 2016 Legislative Session
  • Testified for the Clarkston City Council on its reform ordinance
  • Met with state legislators in Summer and Fall
  • Published information to help educate the public
  • Received coverage online, in print news, on radio, and TV
  • Public outreach at Human Rights Festival and AthFest
  • Helped our affiliate Athens CARE Project at UGA
  • Public speaking at college campuses, civic groups, and business forums
  • Developed and launched the City by City Initiative to advance reform at the city level
  • Raised over $2700 so far for our 40 Days Campaign so we can lobby at the State Capitol all 40 days of the 2017 legislative session- less than $1300 left to go!

Can you help us cross the finish line to make sure we are there every single day?

We want to hear from you about donor thank-you gifts.

Looking Forward to 2017

There are some promising bills that should be up for consideration in the 2017 session. You’ve probably heard about the hopeful expansion of medical marijuana in Georgia, we just wrote about that on our blog.

Another deals with harm reduction for low level cannabis possession – keep your ears open for more info when this is filed. Lastly, there’s discussion of a possible industrial hemp bill.

We will be at the State House during the 2017 legislative session – which starts on January 9th – to discuss all of these bills with Georgia lawmakers and educate them on why we need to act on these issues in Georgia. Can you help by sponsoring a day of lobbying?

If you’ve already supported us this year, thank you again. If you haven’t yet, please consider becoming a contributor today to support our advocacy and education efforts in Georgia.

Help us start 2017 off right with a gift of $17 to show us you’re ready to see change in Georgia.

We hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday season! As always, if you have any ideas, questions, or want to find a way to get involved, doesn’t hesitate to reach out to us at this email.
